About Gambling Guardrails
What is Gambling Guardrails?
Gambling Guardrails is an online gambling recovery coaching program. You get video lessons, trainings, a workbook, and, in some programs, live one-on-one sessions with a certified recovery coach. There are programs for people who want to stop gambling, and for the families who love them.
Is this therapy?
No. Gambling Guardrails offers coaching and education from certified recovery coaches. It isn’t medical or mental health treatment, and it doesn’t replace it.
Who are the coaches?
Our coaches are certified peer recovery specialists who hold International Certified Gambling Counselor (ICGC) credentials. Many have their own lived experience with recovery.
What kinds of gambling does Gambling Guardrails help with?
All of them, including sports betting, online casinos, slots, poker, lottery and scratch-offs, day trading and crypto, and sweepstakes or social casino apps. The tools work the same no matter how you gamble.
Can I use Gambling Guardrails alongside therapy or Gamblers Anonymous?
Yes. Many people use Gambling Guardrails along with therapy, GA, or other support. It’s meant to add to the help you already have, not replace it.
Who is Gambling Guardrails not a good fit for?
Gambling Guardrails isn’t the right place if you’re in crisis, need medical care, or need treatment for another condition at the same time. If that’s the case, we’ll tell you after you apply and point you toward better options.
What if I need help right now?
If you’re in crisis or thinking about suicide, call or text 988. For gambling help any time, call the national helpline at 1-800-MY-RESET. Both are free, confidential, and open 24/7, and you don’t need to be a Gambling Guardrails client. See the help lines.
Applying and getting started
Why do I have to apply first?
We want to make sure Gambling Guardrails is the right fit before you pay. A coach reads every application, and if we’re not the right fit, we’ll tell you and share other resources.
How long does the application take?
About 5 to 10 minutes. It’s a short, private form with questions about what’s going on and what kind of help you’re looking for.
What happens if I’m not approved?
You won’t be charged anything. We’ll let you know, and we’ll share other resources that may be a better fit.
Do I have to stop gambling before I apply?
No. Many people apply while they’re still gambling. Wanting to change is enough to start.
Who can apply?
Adults 18 and older.
Can I do this on my phone?
Yes. Your dashboard, videos, and trainings work on a phone, tablet, or computer. The workbook is built into your dashboard. Your answers save to your account as you type, so it works on any device, and you can print it or save it as a PDF anytime. A blank PDF version is there too if you prefer paper.
How much time does it take each week?
Most people spend about one to two hours a week, split into short sessions.
Programs and pricing
How much does Gambling Guardrails cost?
Programs for individuals are $595 (Foundation), $949 (Guided), and $1,495 (Complete). Each is a one-time payment. Family program pricing is coming soon.
Which program should I choose?
Start with the one that matches how much support you want. If you’re not sure, pick the closest one on your application and your coach can help you decide before you pay.
Do I need insurance?
No. Programs are self-pay, so there’s no insurance to check and nothing to file.
When am I charged?
Only after a coach has reviewed your application and you’ve chosen to enroll. Applying is free.
Live coaching
What happens in a live coaching session?
It’s a private, one-on-one video call with a certified recovery coach. You’ll talk through what’s working, what’s hard, and what to focus on next.
How do I book a session?
Once you’re enrolled in Guided or Complete, you’ll book your sessions from your dashboard at times that work for you.
Privacy
Will anyone know I signed up?
Not unless you tell them. Your application, progress, and sessions stay private, and we don’t contact family members, employers, or anyone else about you.
What will show on my card statement?
A neutral name, with nothing about gambling.
Will you call me?
No. Everything happens online, so you won’t get unexpected calls. The only calls are the live coaching sessions you book yourself.
Who sees my application?
Only the Gambling Guardrails coaches who review applications.
For families
Can I help someone who doesn’t want help yet?
Yes. That’s what the family programs are for. You’ll learn how to protect yourself and how to talk about getting help in a way that doesn’t push them further away.
Does my loved one need to know I’m in a family program?
No. The family programs are for you, and your loved one doesn’t need to be involved or even know you’ve signed up.
Can I pay for my loved one’s program?
Yes. Anyone can pay for a program, but the person in the program fills out their own application.
When will the family programs be ready?
Soon. You can apply now as a family member, and your coach will let you know your options.
