Privacy policy
Asking for help with gambling is personal. Here’s exactly how we handle your information, in plain language.
Last updated: November 1, 2026
The short version
- We collect only what we need to review your application, run your program, and process your payment.
- We never sell your information or use it for advertising.
- We never contact your family, your employer, or anyone else about you.
- Your card details go straight to Stripe. We never see your full card number.
- Your workbook answers are private: only you and our coaching team can see them.
- You can ask us to show you, correct, or delete your information at any time.
1. Who we are
Gambling Guardrails (“we,” “us”) runs gamblingguardrails.com, an online gambling recovery coaching program for individuals and families. This policy explains what information we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
Gambling Guardrails provides coaching and education. We are not a medical or mental health provider, and the coaching we offer is not treatment.
2. What we collect
Information you give us
| When | What we collect |
|---|---|
| When you apply | Your name, email address, the state you live in, confirmation that you’re 18 or older, whether you’re applying for yourself or a loved one, and your answers about gambling and what kind of help you want. |
| When you create an account | Your name, email address, and password. Passwords are stored in encrypted form, and we can’t see them. |
| When you pay | Payments are handled by Stripe. We receive your name, the last four digits of your card, and your billing ZIP code. We never see or store your full card number. |
| When you book coaching | Your name, email address, and the times you choose. Your coach may keep brief notes from your sessions to help them coach you. |
| When you email us | Your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message. |
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, ours automatically receives basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, and the pages you view. Inside your dashboard, we also track which lessons and trainings you’ve completed and save any workbook answers you type, so your progress is saved.
We use only the cookies needed to run the site, such as keeping you logged in. We do not use advertising pixels or tracking tools from social media or ad companies.
3. How we use it
- To review your application and decide, with you, whether Gambling Guardrails is a good fit
- To set up your account and give you access to your program
- To process your payment
- To schedule and run your coaching sessions
- To reply when you contact us, and send messages about your account or program
- To keep the site secure and working, and to improve our programs
- To meet legal obligations
We will not send you marketing emails unless you ask to receive them.
4. Health-related information
Some of what you share with us, such as your answers about gambling, is personal and sensitive. Some U.S. states treat this kind of information as consumer health data. We handle it with extra care:
- We collect it only to review your application and provide your program, and only with your consent, which you give when you submit the application.
- We never sell it.
- We don’t share it with anyone except the service providers who help us run Gambling Guardrails, or where the law requires it.
- You can withdraw your consent and ask us to delete it at any time by emailing [email protected].
If you live in Washington, Nevada, or another state with a consumer health data law, you have the rights described in this section and in Your choices and rights.
6. Videos, payments, and outside links
Our lesson videos are hosted by Vimeo and played inside your dashboard. Vimeo may receive technical information such as your IP address when a video plays. Payments are handled on Stripe’s secure systems. Each of these companies has its own privacy policy that applies to the information they handle.
Links to outside websites, such as help lines or support groups, are not covered by this policy.
7. How long we keep it
- Applications that aren’t approved: deleted within 90 days
- Account and program information: kept while your account is active, and deleted within 12 months after your access ends
- Payment records: kept as long as tax and accounting laws require
You can ask us to delete your information sooner. See Your choices and rights.
8. How we protect it
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS) across the whole site, encrypted password storage, and access controls so only the people who need your information can see it. Payments are processed by Stripe, which meets strict industry security standards.
No website can promise perfect security. If we learn of a breach that affects your information, we’ll notify you as the law requires.
9. Your choices and rights
No matter where you live, you can ask us to:
- Tell you what information we have about you and give you a copy
- Correct information that’s wrong
- Delete your information
- Withdraw your consent to our use of your health-related information
- Stop sending you non-essential emails
To make a request, email [email protected] from the email address on your account. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on it. We’ll respond within 30 days, and we won’t treat you differently for using these rights. If we can’t fully meet your request, for example because the law requires us to keep payment records, we’ll tell you why.
10. Age requirement
Gambling Guardrails is only for adults 18 and older. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn we have, we’ll delete it.
11. Where your information is stored
Gambling Guardrails is based in the United States, and your information is stored and processed in the United States.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top of this page. If the change is significant, we’ll also let current members know by email before it takes effect.
